AR500 Gong
If you’ve ever shot AR500 steel targets you’ll know why they’re the industry standard. Unlike mild steel, this super-tough steel can withstand an intense beating. Rather than allowing bullets to chunk away material or even pass straight through, AR500 steel targets stop rounds dead on impact. This provides both audible and visual feedback, creating a greatly improved user experience. It also increases the safety of shooting steel targets drastically. By maintaining good surface quality – flat, with no craters – bullet splatter can be directed towards the ground when hanging targets at a downward angle. With uneven surfaces and cupped or bent targets (such as mild steel or inferior targets) it becomes very difficult to anticipate bullet splatter direction, and the chances of ricochets increases. The two AR500 targets included in this kit are just what you need for a fun, safe day at the range.
Stand Brackets
To keep the whole thing together is a pair of sawhorse-style target stand brackets. They create an effective target stand that is strong, lightweight, and requires no tools for assembly. Standard 2”x2” wood* found at your local hardware store is used for the legs and crossbar which, unlike steel stands that can fail after just one stray shot, can absorb numerous impacts. The wood can be cut to whatever length is required, providing the versatility you demand for your unique terrain. Under normal circumstances, we recommend 24″ legs and a 48″ wide crossbar for the Ultimate Steel Target Kit.
LinkPac
Use LinkPac brackets to hang your two gong targets on the same stand and set challenging scenarios by quickly obtaining different points of aim. Place LinkPac brackets on the 2×2″ wood crossbar you’ll use for your stand, then assemble the stand with your Stand Brackets as you would normally. Attach hardware to your target and adjust the spacing of LinkPac brackets to roughly 22″ from each end of your stand. Hook the loose end of your chain through the cross-shaped slot in your Stand Brackets, then do the same on your LinkPac brackets. Repeat this process to hang your second target. To secure LinkPac brackets in place, pull down on the chains forcing the “teeth” to bite into the top of the crossbar.
